Hilltop House Under Construction

Perched atop a hill in Placitas, New Mexico, this house offers views in all directions: the Sandia Mountains, the Rio Grande Valley, Jemez Mountains, and even a distant view of Santa Fe Baldy.

The owners' desire was to build a new home in New Mexico, where they met.

They spent many years away from the state, and this is where they want to be. It was imperative that this be an "age in place" residence, with sufficient space to move around comfortably for many years to come.

Additionally, the owners needed separate home offices and plenty of room for storage, and guest rooms for when extended family visit.

The house will be completed in the summer of 2017 and is being built by Paul Kinderdine LLC, a contractor noted for clean, contemporary work.

Vastu Design Principles at Work

Vāstu śhāstra is a traditional Hindu system of architecture which literally translates to "science of architecture." These are texts found on the Indian subcontinent that describe principles of design, layout, measurements, ground preparation, space arrangement and spatial geometry.

Here's a sneak peek of a house, under construction utilizing these ancient principles. Anderson & Associates is the builder.
